Chesterman at MB Race

Jay Chesterman and pal Kent McNeil traveled to France in early July to participate in what is billed as the hardest mountain bike race in Europe. Jay came away from the race convinced that billing is indeed deserved. He later described the event as brutal and the hardest thing he has ever done.

The race covered 85 miles with 22,000 feet of climbing. To make a comparison that is more than double the elevation gain of the Leadville Trail 100. Several parts of the course were "hike-a-bike" climbs that wrecked havoc on feet and toes. Out of 500 starters only 58 finished. That's an 89% attrition rate! Jay finished 10th in his age group and 28th overall in a time of 13 hours. -Posted 10/15/13
