What inspired you to start racing and what was your first race?
I saw the Tour de France on ABC's Wide World of Sport at the age of 14 and decided to work in the bean fields to save money for a bike after I saw one in a Sear's catalogue at my grandparent's house. However, I decided to spend the money for using my parents car the next year. I held onto the thought until I was 18 and got a Schwinn Super Le Tour for graduation. My first race was a criterium in Omaha and finished 2nd to last. I made it my goal for the next year not have that happen again.
