Jeff Kluck took a trip to cheesehead land to race CX October 16-17th. Saturday's race was at Baker Orchard in Centuria. An interesting feature of the course was that it routed through a renovated 100-year-old barn. Jeff came away with a fine 7th place from 26 finishers in the A race.

16-year-old Zach Schuman posted some very impressive results at two CX races in Minnesota October 9-10th.
On Saturday he won the Cat 4 Crosstober race in Rosemount out of a field of 17. The next day, Zach recorded perhaps an even more impressive 2nd place from a giant field of 74 finishers at the Wirth Classic in Minneapolis.

The cyclocross season got off to a fast start for the team as one of our new riders, Matt Maxon, won both Cat 4 races on September 25 and 26th at the Capital City Cross in muddy Des Moines. After that he upgraded to Cat 3.

Jay Chesterman has recorded some strong results the past two weekends.
October 2nd, Jay raced the 15th annual Blockhouse Roll at Platteville, Wisconsin. The course featured "technical single track, tough climbs, crazy downhills and two creek crossings." Jay came in 2nd place among the Cat 1 Experts. He was only 30 seconds behind the winner but about 5 minutes ahead of 3rd place.

SC Velo is pleased to announce five new riders from the Sioux Falls area have joined our Powerade/Indpendent Fabrication cycling team for 2011. They've already lined up for some cyclocross races and posted very good results. Not all the bios have been returned but here are their names:

Jay Chesterman and Bill Feiges again hit the MTB trails on September 11th at the Branched Oak Capital City Challenge, the 9th event in the Nebraska Lottery Psycowpath Series.
Jay finished 8th in the Cat 1 Open race won by Jesse Peterson (Monkey Wrench).

Jay Chesterman and Bill Feiges competed at the 10th annual Dakota Five-O MTB race in the Black Hills on September 5th. Bill placed an outstanding 4th (of 39 finishers) in the 50+ category. His time for the 50 mile race was 4:57:04. Bill was only among four to finish under 5 hours. The winning time was 4:45:41.

Central Plains Cycling of Sioux Falls promoted a stage race August 21-22nd. There was a time trial Saturday morning and a road race in the afternoon located northwest of the city. The race concluded with a criterium in downtown Sioux Falls on Sunday. Each rider had to finish each of the three stages in order to qualify for a place in the final standings (General Classification).

The final race of our Wednesday evening 20k time trial series went off under sunny skies, 80 degrees and mild humidity with a south wind 10-15mph.
