Iowa City Weekend

Written by: Admin

Some team Powerade/IF racers made the annual spring trip to contest the popular weekend rural road race and downtown criterium at Iowa City April 24th-25th.

Cody McCullough notched his first victory of the season by taking the win in the Master's 40+ road race on the familiar, mildly rolling course near the Kalona Cheese Factory on Saturday. Overcast skies and some wetish roads were in store but unlike past years, the wind wasn't a factor this time only blowing at around 10mph from the southeast. Bob Greigg finished 13th. Bill Feiges was 7th in the concurrent Master's 50+ race.

The 2nd Annual Twin Bing Classic Road Race is ready to roll this Sunday. Sponsored by Palmer Candy, this race will be a good early-season test of your fitness. The course features rolling hills, some screaming descents, a few flat sections and a nice kick-in-the-tail climb to the finish line atop "Climbing Hill."

As of Saturday at 11pm the forecast is looking great: Mostly sunny, a high of 69 (55 or so for the start at 11am). East winds 6-15mph.

This is day-of registration. Spend less time in line: Print out a Rider's Release
